Industry Recognition

ACHS is continually working to improve educational standards and achieve increasing recognition for graduates like you.

For new graduates, we recommend researching the following industry organizations:

  • ABMP: Certificate in Aromatherapy and Diploma in Aromatherapy students are approved for student liability insurance; Certificate in Aromatherapy and Diploma in Aromatherapy graduates are approved for practitioner liability insurance. Students and Graduates must apply.
  • American Herbalists Guild (AHG): Master Herbalist graduates are eligible for professional membership once they have met the AHG clinical requirement, available through the AHG mentorship program.
  • American Holistic Health Association (AHHA): The college is a Gold Circle Supporting Institutional Member of AHHA.
  • Aromatherapy Registration Council (ARC): Certificate in Aromatherapy graduates are eligible to sit for the National Examination in Aromatherapy sponsored by ARC to become Registered Aromatherapists and to use the trademarked letters RA after their name.
  • Herb Growing and Marketing Network (HGMN): Master Herbalist graduates are eligible for practitioner liability insurance.
  • Institute of Aromatic Medicine (IAM): Certificate in Aromatherapy and Diploma in Aromatherapy graduates can apply for membership.
  • International Federation of Aromatherapists (IFA): Certificate in Aromatherapy and Diploma in Aromatherapy graduates are eligible for professional membership.
  • International Iridology Practitioners Association (IIPA): ACHS anatomy and physiology training is approved for iridology certification.
  • National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA): ACHS is approved to offer Level One and Two aromatherapy curricula. Certificate in Aromatherapy and Diploma in Aromatherapy graduates are eligible for Professional Aromatherapist membership with NAHA.
  • National Association of Nutrition Professionals (NANP): Graduates of the ACHS Diploma in Holistic Health Practice program are eligible to apply to sit for the Holistic Nutrition Credentialing Board's (HNCB) Board Examination. The HNCB is a division of the National Association of Nutrition Professionals (NANP). NANP Professional Members who meet the board examination qualification criteria and successfully pass the Board Exam will earn the designation, "Board Certified in Holistic Nutrition."   • United Plant Savers (UPS): The College is a member of the Partners in Education Network. Students and graduates are eligible for membership.

Mentoring and Apprenticeships for Herbalists

Chanchal Cabrera MSc, MNIMH, AHG

ACHS students will be offered preferential placement in Chanchal's herbal apprenticeship opportunities. Practical training may include clinical work, dispensary practicum, gardening, harvesting and processing herbs.

American Herbalists Guild

Graduates of the Herb 402 Master Herbalist program should contact the American Herbalists Guild directly for information about the AHG Mentorship program clinical requirements for professional membership. Visit www.americanherbalistsguild.com or call 203.272.6731.

Graduate Referrals

To submit information on your services and/or products to the College for inclusion in Alumni in Action, email your bio & photo to alumni@achs.edu. We are often asked for referrals to qualified graduates.

Join the American College Alumni Association

As a successful graduate of ACHS, we invite you to join the American College Alumni Association as a Donor member. The American College Alumni Association was established to strengthen the alliance of ACHS Graduates, enhance the services we provide to you, and increase your opportunities for success.

Joining the Alumni Association also supports the college's ongoing efforts for international recognition. There are two levels of alumni membership activity:

Graduate Member

As a graduate, you are automatically a Graduate Member of the Alumni Association. Your membership includes the following benefits:

  • Subscription to the online ACHS newsletter the ACHS Reporter.
  • 17% discount on retail products from the Apothecary Shoppe.
  • Discounts on course material updates.
  • On-going graduate support.

Donor Member

You may choose to become an Alumni Association Donor Member with a donation of $50 or more annually. Your donor membership benefit includes all of the above graduate member benefits, plus the following:

  • Donor member certificate for framing.
  • A listing in the online ACHS Reporter and on our website alumni pages as a donor member.
  • A 22% discount on retail products from the Apothecary Shoppe.

Outstanding Graduate of the Year Program

Each year ACHS chooses a graduate to represent the College in the DETC Annual Outstanding Graduate program. Selection criteria includes review of the graduate's academic record as well as the level and quality of their contribution to society and to their chosen profession. Selection occurs in the fall of each year.

ACHS Chapter of the Delta Epsilon Tau Honor Society

ACHS maintains a Chapter of the Delta Epsilon Tau (DET) Honor Society. The DET Honor Society is sponsored by the Distance Education and Training Council and was established to:

  • Recognize the academic achievements of students who study at a distance;
  • Publicly demonstrate that distance study is truly a viable educational option;
  • Inspire both students and faculty in the distance study community; and
  • Bring honor and earned recognition to individuals who have worked diligently to acquire new knowledge and skills from an accredited distance learning institution.

Selection Criteria

Graduates must attain an academic average of at least 90%. ACHS will note Honors on the student's certificate or diploma and on transcripts. Honors graduates will be listed in the ACHS Reporter Newsletter and will receive an invitation to join the ACHS Chapter of the Delta Epsilon Tau Honor Society from the national chapter. Please refer to the ACHS Student Handbook for more details.
