Course Description:As a Holistic Health Practitioner, you will have the unique opportunity to help people from all walks of life regain their health and wellness. This is part of what makes the field so interesting and rewarding.
Getting results as an HHP is what it is all about and understanding the whole person - physical, psychological and spiritual is essential to achieve lasting wellness. To prepare you for the exciting road ahead, ACHS now offers Introduction to Psychology (Psych 101) starting January 19, which will teach you to understand how our health and psychological wellness are interdependent.
If you have an interest in the health influence of everyday experiences such as perception, sensation, personality, motivation, and role of genetics, this course is for you.
Sign up to learn both the biological foundations of the brain, as well as practical tools for understanding emotion, lifespan development, and applied psychology.
As a successful graduate of Introduction to Psychology, you will be able to: - Examine sensation, perception, heredity, and genetics;
- Explain the anatomical structures and physiological functions related to psychology; and
- Analyze the underlying principles behind learning, memory, and experience.

This course introduces human behavior. It includes the study of the theories and concepts of psychology including the scope of psychology, biological foundations and the brain, sensation, perception, motivation, personality, learning/memory, emotion, states of consciousness, personality theories, cognition, life-span development, and applied psychology.
PSYCH 101 Introduction to Psychology credits as an elective to the Associate of Applied Science in Complementary Alternative Medicine. is
a required general education course for the Associate of Applied
Science in Complementary Alternative Medicine degree program and
strengthens all students’ skills for their career and provides vital
life skills in English composition.
Prerequisites:
Recommendation for admissions by the Dean of Admissions.
Study Time:
This course is completed over 16 weeks. Minimum study time recommended is 9 hours per week.
Credit:
3 semester credits.
