Herb 201 Herbal Studies Online

This program is designed for students interested in increasing their knowledge of natural health, herbal medicine, and nutrition to improve their health and that of their family as well as move forward with advanced herbal training and choose a career in the natural health industry if desired.   

Herb 302 Herbal Materia Medica I Online
This class is a core requirement for the Master Herbalist Diploma, beginning your herbal materia medica study with alterative, demulcent, cathartic, anthelmintic, astringent, and diuretic herbs.

Herb 303 Herbal Materia Medica II Online
This class is a core requirement for the Master Herbalist Diploma, continuing your herbal materia medica study with diaphoretic, emmenagogue, expectorant, nervine, antispasmodic, tonic, stimulant, antiseptic, and hepatic herbs.

Herb 304 Herbal Materia Medica III Online
Herb 304 introduces 60 additional herbs currently linked to developing research, including some old favorites like rosemary Rosmarinus officinalis, which is being tested for use with Alzheimer’s Disease, and less-commonly used herbs like Gotu kola Centella asiatica, researched for use with anxiety. Herb 502 Advanced Herbal Materia Medica I
This course is an elective specialty for the Master of Science in Complementary and Alternative Medicine. Graduates of this course will be expected to demonstrate an advanced knowledge base of the materia medica, principles of various concepts in botanical medicine including acquiring a strong theoretical understanding of the efficacy based on current research papers of selected botanicals such as alteratives, demulcents, cathartics, anthelmintics, astringents, digestives, anti-inflammatories, and diuretics.

Herb 503 Advanced Herbal Materia Medica II
This course is an elective specialty for the Master of Science in Complementary and Alternative Medicine. This botanical specialty continues a student’s herbal materia medica study with diaphoretic, emmenagogue, expectorant, nervine, antispasmodic, tonic, stimulant, antiseptic, stomachic and hepatic herbs.

Continuing Education for Herbalists & Herb Enthusiasts

CE511 Advanced Herbal Materia Medica Online
The Advanced Herbal Material Medica program, covering the leading medicinal botanicals, provides continuing education for many health care professionals such as pharmacists, naturopaths, registered nurses, registered herbalists (AHG) and registered aromatherapists (ARC). Other healthcare professionals should contact admissions for eligibility.

CE512 Botanical Pharmacognosy & Phytochemistry Online
The Botanical Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry program takes students on an in-depth tour of the fundamental principles of pharmacognosy and photochemistry as they apply to the clinical practice of botanical medicine. While examining the details of plant constituents, this course holistically incorporates knowledge from traditional Western herbal medicine with scientific information from contemporary chemistry, botany and human physiology.
